We’ve had 25 years of the wonderful David Ray at Pryor Marking Technology so we asked him our classic questions
What’s your role in the company?
I have been the Technical Director for the last 12 years. I lead the Pryor technical team. We develop new products and design the custom marking solutions for the Automation division of the business. Our team skills include mechanical, electronic/electrical and software/firmware design. I’m still pretty hands on, so you are more likely to find me with my head in a machine than sat at my desk ?.
How did you find these years in Pryor?
You could never get bored in this job. We design machines for such a wide range of applications and industries that no two days are ever the same. We get to work with some very interesting technologies, companies, and people throughout industry and that is what keeps the job interesting. It is also fascinating to look back at the previous 25 years and see just how far technology has evolved and how much Pryor has evolved with it.
Do you have any hobbies outside work?
I have always wanted to get into car restoration. Last year, I finally cleared out the garage and bought an old MG. All my spare time (and money) has been spent stripping it down and rebuilding it. The little MG is now back on the road after 10 years of neglect.
What’s your favourite food?
A pack of Henderson’s Relish crisps washed down with a pint of Abbeydale Brewery Moonshine. ?
