Pryor Marking Technology will show how component identification, tracking and tracing are supporting the digital manufacturing revolution, when it exhibits at Smart Factory Expo 2019 - Stand A40, Internet of Things zone.

Along with a range of marking equipment and technologies, Pryor’s stand will feature a demonstration version of its latest component tracking and data capture software application.

“Accurate full lifecycle traceability enables the process history of a uniquely marked component to be tracked, in real time, right from raw materials through to factory application,” says Alastair Morris, Sales Director at Pryor.

“Data gathered on permanently marked components allows instant identification of quality risks, and easy location of the relevant part in an assembly so it can be rapidly repaired. Data analysis helps in detecting the root cause of quality issues and in preventing their recurrence. It also highlights possibilities for process improvement to increase productivity.”

Pryor’s complete systems cover all three essential elements of implementing traceability in manufacturing operations: precision marking equipment, vision devices and data management software.

At Smart Factory Expo, Pryor will highlight this software, operated via an app, embedded controller or PC, tracks unique serial numbers applied to parts as Data Matrix codes. When components are selected for dispatch, or fitted together as an assembly, the software ensures that all predefined items are included. Printed and digitally stored parts lists can be readily generated for future reference or analysis.

“Our software has most recently been adapted for a particular company whose products and related picking lists are unique to each customer,” Alastair explains. “There is no room for error if the product is to be right first time and issues during installation are to be avoided.”

He adds: “With our own software development team, based at our Sheffield headquarters, we can customise elements of our traceability and data capture software quickly and easily. The software we will be demonstrating at Smart Factory Expo can therefore be adapted to each manufacturer’s specific needs. We look forward to showing visitors what this and other Pryor solutions can do for their business.”

Smart Factory Expo 2019 takes place on 13 to 14 November at the Exhibition Centre in Liverpool, UK. Visitors to the show will find Pryor in the Internet of Things zone on Stand A40.
