On 30th May 2024 Sheffield based company Pryor Marking held an open day celebrating its 175th anniversary. Commemorating the event, Pryor welcomed customers, suppliers, and local dignitaries - including Lord Mayor of Sheffield, Cllr Jayne Dunn. Attendees had the chance to take part in interactive exhibits showcasing the company’s rich history, discover their latest technologies via a factory tour and join in on the ‘Spirit of Pryor’ gin tasting .
From humble beginnings to the go to experts in marking and traceability, Pryor Marking proudly celebrated their latest milestone at their facility in Sheffield. Whilst the company’s official 175th anniversary was 23rd May 2024, celebrations took place on 30th May where they combined a staff party with an open day for its suppliers and customers.

The team were delighted to welcome Lord Mayor, Cllr Jayne Dunn, to the event, who even had the chance of engraving her own Pryor pen with the latest marking machine. Lord Mayor Dunn went for ‘20th female Lord Mayor’ for the engraving. This highlighted her celebratory speech when selected as Mayor - she said she would be the 127th Lord Mayor of Sheffield but only the 20th woman.
Alongside some industry networking opportunities, influential presentations took place from the Pryor team and local leaders. Combining professionalism with much deserved fun, attendees took part in gin tasting which featured a one-off, unique batch of ‘Spirit of Pryor’ courtesy of Locksley Distilling Co. Ltd. The local distiller also provided delicious cocktails to attendees whilst they networked.

The opportunity to see excellence in action, participants were taken on a tour of the facility - seeing in reality how Pryor’s products come to life. The Pryor team proudly showed people around their factory floor showcasing historical products from decades past to watching how products have evolved through technological advancements.

To further commemorate the event and celebrate their longevity, everyone got to sign the ‘Pryor 175 years’ metal sheet that is set to be displayed at the facility. Another chance to witness the company’s laser marking excellence was the opportunity to engrave their names with a Pryor machine.
As proud members of Made in Yorkshire (MIY), Pryor Marking will be welcoming industry leaders back to their site in Sheffield on 19th September 2024. Exclusively for MIY members only, Pryor will be hosting another factory tour, sharing their best practices and facilitating networking - celebrating their inspiring milestone all over again. More than 50 decision makers and manufacturing professionals are set to attend.
